Bird, on 2 August 1897 in the Reformed church of Annandale at Annandale, Clinton Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹ She died on 10 September 1903 of phthisis pulmonary (TB) at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.² She was buried on 13 September 1903 at Union Cemetery, Lebanon, Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.^2,3

Death at all times seems sudden and although the death of the deceased was expected at any time, one at all times entertains hopes and expects the sick to continue to live a little while longer. She was a patient sufferer and bore her affliction bravely. A large number of friends and relatives, bearing beautiful floral tributes, attended the funeral Monday morning, which was held at the Reformed church at this place, Rev. S. D. Harris, of the White House, M.E. Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. H. T. Jones. Deceased is survived by her husband and daughter. The pall bears were Peter Latourette, foreman, J. V. Stillwell, John Parks, F. W. Lindsley, C. E. Tomson, Jr., Euguene Hoffman and Elvin Hoffman. Interment in the Lebabon M.E. cemetery by funeral director J. R. Alpaugh.⁸

At the time of this marriage, Jacob resided at 227 Rahway Ave., Elizabeth, NJ and Mattie at White House.² Mattie died on 23 September 1952 at Quakertown Community Hospital, Quakertown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, at age 71.³ Her body was interred on 26 September 1952 at White House, Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, at Rural Hill Cemetery.³

     Mrs. Mattie Davis, 70, wife of Jacob Davis, of Easton Road, Riegelsville, died yesterday at Quakertown Community Hospital after an illness of one week.

     Mrs. Davis was a native of Whitehouse, N.J., and was of the Methodist faith.

     She is survived, in addition to her husband, by a daughter, Miss Eleanor Davis, at home.

     Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Snyder funeral home, Riegelsville. The Rev. Paul H. Gleichman, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riegelsville, will officiate. Interment will be in Rural Hill cemetery, Whitehouse. on 24 September 1952.³

     Ramsey Sutton was born on 26 August 1868 at Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹ He was the son of Richard Sutton and Hannah M. Bird. He married Jennie Viola Bowers at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, on 10 September 1893.² Ramsey died on 21 June 1929 of lymphocarcinoma of neck. Information on death certificate provided by Jacob Davis, brother-in-law, of Plainfield. at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, at age 60.³ His body was interred on 24 June 1929 at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey.³
     Ramsey Sutton appeared on the census of 1 July 1870 in the household of Richard Sutton at Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.⁴ He appeared on the census of July 1875 in the household of Richard Sutton at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey; Isaiah listed on page 1569.⁵ He appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 in the household of Richard Sutton at North Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.⁶ He appeared on the census of 1885 in the household of Richard Sutton at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey; The 1885 NJ State Census notes a Mary A. Bird (20-60) living with Richard and family in Readington. Is Mary Bird, Hannah's mother?⁷ He appeared on the census of 1895 at Ward 1, Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey; Name on census noted as Rulphen vice Sutton.⁸ He was a trainman on the Central RR of New Jersey in 1900.⁹ He appeared on the census of 22 June 1900 in the household of Richard Sutton at North Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹⁰ He was a freight handler in 1910.¹¹ He appeared on the census of 13 April 1910 at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, noted as a boarder in Belles household.¹² He was a railroad trainman on Central RR of NJ in June 1929.      Ramsey Sutton, 177 Mercer street, died at the Warren Hospital at 1:30 today of complications, aged 63 years. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. M. Davies [Davis], of Plainfield. on 21 June 1929.¹³

     David Sutton was born on 10 October 1812 at Fairmount, Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹ He was the son of Richard Sutton and Mary Bunn. He married Emily Yawger at Somerset County, New Jersey, on 8 October 1836.^2,3 He died on 28 April 1871 at New Germantown, Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, of liver complaint.⁴ His body was interred on 30 April 1871 at Fairmount, Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, at Methodist Churchyard.^4,1

On 14 June 1871 an Order to Limit Creditors item appeared in the newspaper which read:
Hunterdon County Surrogate Office.
     Order to Limit Creditors. - Upon the application of David Van Fleet, Administrator of the estate of David Sutton, deceased.
     I, Robert J. Kllgore, Surrogate of the said County of Hunterdon, by virtue of the power and authority vested in my by law, do hereby order on this thirtieth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventyone that the said Administrator as aforesaid, give public notice to the crditors of said David Sutton, dec'd, to bring in their debts, claims and demands against the said estate...¹¹


A Sale of Personal Property notice appeared in the newspaper on 21 November 1871 which read:
Administrator's Sale of Personal Property.
     The subscriber, Administer of the estate of David Sutton, deceased, will sell at Public Sale, on Friday, the 8th of December 1871, at the late residence of said deceased, on the road leading from New Germantown to Potterstown, about 1 1/2 miles from the former, the following described Personal Property, consisting of four horses, two colts, three choice milch cows, three shoats, a four-horse farm wagon, a two-horse farm wagon, a one horse farm wagon, a two horse truck wagon, a one-horse truck wagon, buggy, double and single harness, sled, buck sled, plows, harrows, cultivators, fanning mill, cutting box, forks, rakes, grain cradles, threshing machine with lever power, cider press and works, green grain in the ground. Household and Kitchen Furniture, together with numerous other articles not necessary to mention here. Sale to commence at 10 o'clock A.M. Conditions, &c. made known at sale by David Van Fleet, Adm'r. Nov. 21, 1871.¹²


On 4 March 1873 a Notice of Insolvent Estate appeared in the newspaper which read:
Insolvent Estate Notice is hereby given that David Van Fleet, Administrator of David Sutton, deceased, will make report of the several claims and demands which have been exhibited against the said estate, and of the amount of the estate of said deceased in and to the Orphans Court to be held at Flemington in the county of Hunterdon, on Monday, the Fifith day of May, in the April Term of 1873, at ten o'clock in the forenoon; and also, that his final account will be presented for settlement and allowance.
