     Mary was born at New Jersey circa 1761. She was the daughter of Samuel Batson and Mary ? She married Joseph Sutton at New Jersey on 26 August 1781. Mary died on 18 March 1842 at Roseville, Byram Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. Her body was interred on 21 March 1842 at Hackettstown, Warren County, New Jersey, at Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

     Samuel was born at New Jersey on 24 March 1782. He was the son of Joseph Sutton and Mary Betson (Batson). He married Elizabeth Slack on 5 January 1807 at Sussex County, New Jersey. He died on 31 December 1879 at Wentworth, Ontario, Toronto, Canada.1
     Samuel Sutton moved circa 1814 at Flamborough, Ontario, Canada, In 1844, when Samuel sold his interest in his father's estate, he and Elizabeth were living in Flamboro, Canada, where they had moved about 1814. They had seven daughters and three sons, including a John Sutton and a Mrs. Mary Durphy. In 1888, Mrs. Durphy wrote that she had heard her father talk about "old Uncle John" with whom they lived, his grandfather James who " died when he was about 9 or 10", and his uncles Jonathan and Nathan.

Her body was interred on 17 November 1868 at Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey.
     Mary and George bought her father's homestead by 1847. They later moved to Newark and then to Jersey City. On 25 Apr. 1836, George was appointed administrator of her father's estate and also had to complete the administration of the estate of Joseph Jr..

     Henry Niper was born circa 1831 at New Jersey. He was the son of Peter Niper and Anna ? He married Nancy Ellen Sutton, daughter of Joseph W. Sutton and Sarah Ann Rittenbury, on 24 September 1853 at Danville, Independence Township, Warren County, New Jersey.1 He died on 30 October 1864 at Adams (Reginmental) Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. He was buried on 30 October 1864 at Memphis National Cemetery, Section H. Site 4055, Memphis, Tennessee.
     Henry Niper appeared on the census of 20 July 1860 in the household of Joseph W. Sutton at Independence Township, Warren County, New Jersey.2 He Peter Nipe, father, obtained guardianship of son Henry's daughters Sarah Elizabeth and Catharine following Henry's death in the Civil War. He received pension payments for the daughters of $8 per month starting October 31, 1864; $12 per month starting July 25, 1866; and $10 per month from September 1, 1871 to May 1, 1875 (payments for each daughter ended when they became 16 years old). Ref: Civil War pension application file, certificate 87772, application 109.004, box 32535. in 1865.
