He married Mary A. Besson, daughter of Franklin Besson, circa 1827 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He died on 18 December 1879 at Delaware Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, of dropsy of the abdomen.1,2 His estate was probated on 20 December 1879 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey.3

Jonas was cited on 3 June 1873 in a newspaper article which read:
     Dogs have commenced to worry the sheep. One night last week they tackled a flock belonging to Mr. Jonas Sutton, near Sand Brook, and killed and maimed a dozen or more sheep and lambs.8

Jonas was cited on 1 July 1873 in newspaper article which read:
Theft of Hardware
     One night last week theives broke into the distillery of Mr. Jonas Sutton, near Sand
Brook, and spirited away twenty odd gallons of high up apple whiskey.
     Some one is evidently trying to worry Mr. Sutton. He drove into town last Friday night, and tied his horse in front of Force's Hotel. When he got ready to go home about 11 o'clock, his horse and wagon were both gone.9

Jonas was cited in another newspaper article on 4 September 1873 which read:
Runaway and Smash Up
     On Thursday afternoon last, while Mr. Jonas Sutton, of Sandbrook, was unloading peaches at the South Branch depot in this place, his horse which was being held by his young grandson, took fright and started off furiously, throwing both Mr. S. and the boy out of the wagon, injuring the latter quite severly in one shoulder. He was taken into the residence of Moses K. Everitt, Esq., where he was properly cared for, and towards evening was taken home. The horse brought up against a neighboring tie-post, where he badly wrecked the wagon. Mr. Sutton escaped injury.10

He made a will at Delaware Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, on 29 April 1878.11

Advertised Executor's Sale was posted on 20 January 1880 which read:
Executors' Sale of a Valuable Farm and Distillery. Also Personal Property.
     The subscribers, Executors of Jonas Sutton, late of the township of Delaware, county of Hunterdon, deceased, will sell at Public Sale on the premises, on Tuesday, February 3, 1880, the Homestead Farm of said deceased, situated in the said township of Delaware, adjoining lads of Nelson Holcombe, Jacob Thatcher, Daniel Ege and others, containing 115 48-100 acres of land, 12 acres of which are timber.
     The personal property consists of 1 cow, about 20 tons of hay, 1 spring wagon, 1 sleigh, green grain in the ground, five or six hundred gallons of cider, household goods - consisting of beds, bedding, bureaus, tables, chairs, carpets, 1 good old-fashion 8-day clock, stone earthen, glass and tin ware, &c.

An Order to Limit Creditors was posted on 27 January 1880 in the newspaper. It read:
Hunterdon County Surrogate Office
     Order to Limit Creditors - Upon the application of John P. Rittenhouse and Amos Sutton, Executors of the estate of Jonas Sutton, deceased.... W. H. Johnson, Surrogate.13

On 27 January 1880 a Complainant's Bill was noted in the newspaper. It read as follows:
In Chancery of New Jersey
     To Joseph B. Sutton and Theodore C. Sutton.
     By virtue of an order of the Court of Chancery of New Jersey, made on the day of the date hereof, in a cause wherein William H. Williamson, Executor &c., of John Williamson, deceased, is complainant, and you and others are defendants, you are required to appear, plead, demur or answer to the complainant's bill on or before the Twenty-third day of March next, or the said bill will be taken as confessed against you.
     The said bill is filed to foreclose a mortgage given to Jonas Sutton, now deceased, to John Williamson, on lands in the township of Delaware, in the county of Hunterdon, dated the twentieth day of April, A. D., 1860, and you, Joseph B. Sutton, are made defendant because you hold a mortgage on said lands subsequent ot the above mentioned mortgage; and you, the said Joseph B. Sutton and Theodore C. Sutton, are made defendants because you are two of the children and heirs-in-law of the said Jonas Sutton, deceased, and tenants-in-common of the premises described in said mortgage.

A Notice to Creditors was posted in the newspaper on 30 November 1880 and read:
Notice to Creditors:
     The creditors of Jonas Sutton, deceased and others, interested, are hereby notified that a report of the claims exhibited against the estate of said decedent will be made, and an inventory of the real and personal estate of said decedent will be presented to the Orphans' Court of the county of Hunterdon on Monday, February 7, 1881, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, and thereupon application will be made to have said estate decreed insolvant...

A notice of Public Sale of Personal Property appeard in the newspaper on 15 February 1881 which read:
Public Sale of Personal Property
     The subscriber, having engaged in other business, will sell at Public Sale on the farm formerly known as the "Jonas Sutton Farm," near Sand Brook, on Saturday, February 26th, 1881, his entire Stock and Farming Utensils, viz: ... S. J. King.15

In a newspaper article on 5 December 1882 it was noted:
Property Sold: The "Jonas Sutton Farm," in Delaware township, was sold by the heirs of Runkle Rea, deceased, last week, to David Carroll, of Head Quarters, for $60 per acre. There are 115 acres in the farm.16

     Zebulon was born at Somerset County, New Jersey, on 12 November 1752. He was the son of Henry Sutton. He married Sarah Hull at New Jersey on 21 December 1781. Zebulon died on 25 February 1840 at Knox County, Ohio, at age 87.
     Zebulon Sutton was a member of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church between 1783 and 1786 at Basking Ridge, Bernard Township, Somerset County, New Jersey.1 He lived circa 1800 at Washington County, Pennsylvania. He appeared on the census of 1800 at Morris Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.2 He appeared on the census of 1810 at Morris Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.3 He appeared on the census of 1820 at Morris Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.4 He appeared on the census of 1830 at Clay Township, Knox County, Ohio.5 Zebulon applied for a military pension at Knox County, Ohio, on 3 August 1832.6

His body was interred on 4 July 1826 at Oak Ridge, West Milford Township, Passaic County, New Jersey, at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

He married Hannah Rorick, daughter of Michael Rorick and Lucretia Hardin, on 18 March 1797 at New Jersey. He died on 27 December 1853 at Hardyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, of old age.2,3 He was buried on 31 December 1853 at Anabaptist Cemetery, Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey.4,5
