     John A. Sutton, 74, retired farmer of Califon, died yesterday in Somerset Hospital, Somerville, where he had been a patient for several weeks. He had suffered a stroke on Christmas and had been ill since that time. Mr. Sutton was born near Cokesbury, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emanual Sutton. He spent his entire life in the vicinity of Cokesbury, and was a member of the Lower Valley Presbyterian Church, Califon.
     Survivors include, his wife, Mrs. Laura Turner Sutton; two brothers, Leon Sutton, near Cokesbury, and Theodore Sutton, of Stone Mill.
     Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Lower Valley Presbyterian Church, Califon, with the pastor, the Rev. Edwin H. Brown, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery, Clinton. on 13 March 1947.3

Mr. Sutton was a retired farmer. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, High Bridge.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Stephanie Horvath Sutton at home; three sons, Francis P. and Edward J., rural Annandale; George A., Convent Station; two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Azhderian, Santa Monica, Calif; Mrs. Kenneth Koford, Mt. Baldy, Calif. and seven grandchildren.

A requiem mass was celebrated Monday in St. Joseph's Church, High Bridge, by Rev. Richard A. Ewing. Interment was in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Clinton. The Rosary was recited Sunday night at Naughright-Bright Funeral Home, High Bridge. on 22 December 1966.13

     Surviving are her husband, a son, George, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Nuismer, of Great Meadows and Mrs. Wayne Pearsall, of Maplewood; a brother, Frank Teets, of Lenwood, Pa; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Tomer, of Elizabeth; Mrs. Carrie Midgley, of Linden; and Mrs. Jennie Smith, of Clinton; also four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
     The funeral will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. with services at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Muismer, at Great Meadows. The Rev. James Lane wil officiate. Interment will be in Fairmount cemetery, near Califon. on 17 December 1948.4

     Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Coughlin Funeral Home, Califon. Interment will be in Readington, N.J., Cemetery. on 11 September 1978.4

     Mrs. Mary Jane Sutton, 92 years old, widow of Christopher E. Sutton, died Friday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sutton, of near Califon. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Apgar and had resided in the vicinity of Califon all her life. She was member of the Cokesbury Methodist Episcopal church.
     There survive three sons, Theodore, of Stone Mill; John A., of Califon, and Leon, with whom she resided.
     The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., for the Sutton residence near Califon with interment in the Mountain View Cemetery, Cokesbury. on 11 April 1942.2

    In the Court of Quarter Sessions, besides those reported in our last issue, the following indictments were tried:
    ...
    The State v. Mary Jane Sutton. - Indictment for assault and battery. Emanual Sutton the husband of the defedant, was a tenant of David Sanderson, and a dispute having arisen as to the division of the poultry. Mr. Sanderson, together with an officer, went to the poultry-house, when an altercation occurred, in which it was claimed that the defendant struck Mr. Sanderson in the face with her hand. Verdict, not guilty.
    The State v. Emanual Sutton. - Indictment for assault, in threatening Col. Sanderson that he would knock out his brains with a club he then held, if he entered the poultry-house. Verdict, not guilty.
    The State v. Mary Jane Sutton. - There was a controversy about the division of the hay between David Sanderson, landlord, and Emanual Sutton tenant, and Mrs. Sutton, conceiving that one Stathem, who was assisting in the division, was acting unfairly, pitched into him and struck, scratched and choked him. The indictment was for assault and battery. Verdict, guilty, with a recommendation to mercy.
