He was a native of Vienna, N.J., but had lived in Phillipsburg for 54 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Hockenbury; a daughter, Miss Eva Sutton, of New York City; five sons, John serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; Kenneth, of Lepstic, O; and Russell, Raymond and Earl, of Phillipsburg; a brother, John, of California; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Fulmer, of Delaware Park; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. on 8 September 1953.3

Services will be held at the Finegan Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on 26 March 1956.2

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Finegan Funeral Home, Inc., Phillipsburg. Interment will be Fairmount Cemetery. on 19 April 1982.2

Russell was born at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, on 22 December 1906.1 He was the son of Alvah Sutton and Ella G. Hockenbury. He married Carrie V. Alpaugh at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, on 4 April 1928.2 Russell died on 3 July 1984 at Easton Hospital, Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, at age 77.1 He was buried on 7 July 1984 at Hays Cemetery, Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.1

He was a bus driver for the Phillipsburg Board of Education 10 years, retiring in 1979. Before that he was a driver for the former Royal Blue Coach Co. for 37 years.

Mr. Sutton was a member of Rice-Ebner American Legion Post 588, Easton, and the American Association of Retired Person. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carrie Alpaugh; a son, Russell L. Jr. of Bethlehem; two brothers, Earl of Phillipsburg, and Kenneth of Ohio, and a sister, Eva Levy, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg. Interment will be in Hay's Cemetery, Easton. on 5 July 1984.1

Blinded by the storm and unable to distinguish an approaching locomotive, Joseph Garner Sutton, 60 years old, of Annandale, a crossing watchman in the employ of the Central Railroad Company of New Jersey, after quitting work shortly after 7 o'clock last night, was making his way through the local yards when he was struck by Lehigh Valley engine No. 246; Alex Morrison, of Milton avenue, South Side, Easton, engineer, and William Morrison, of South Fourth street, Easton, conductor. One leg was severed at the hip, and he died in a few minutes.
The Lehigh Valley engine and crew were engaged in shifting cars in the Central railroad yard when the accident happened and Mr. Sutton was walking in the direction of the Central passenger station to take a train for his home.
Deceased is survived by his wife, five children, William, George, Allen and Jacob Sutton, of Annandale, and Mrs. Leland Crate, of Livingston, Mont. A brother, R. R. Sutton, of Bound Brook, and two sisters, Mrs. Theodore Hill and Mrs. Elizabeth Kagon, of Gladstone, N.J., also survive him.
Mr. Sutton ws born at Fairmount, near Califon, and had been in the employ of the Central Company for 8 years, the greater part of that time as a mason foreman. He was a member of the Reformed Church at Annandale and the Odd Fellows at High Bridge. on 5 February 1920.18

He also was a member of Delaware Lodge 52 F&AM; the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 14, and a contributing member of the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad.

Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Willard Hoffman, of Oxford R.D; Mrs. Charles Bennet, of Clifton, N.J; and Mrs. Amanda Huff, of Washington; four sons, Harry and Clyde, both of Washington; Alfred, of Phillipsburg; and Elmer, at home; a brother, Robert, of Beattystown; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Port Murray Methodist Church. The Rev. Frank Ostertag, pastor of Port Murray Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Port Murray cemetery. on 7 March 1951.3

Alfred was born at Port Colden, Washington Township, Warren County, New Jersey, on 12 August 1896.1 He was the son of Casper Jones Sutton and Lillian Mae Hoppaugh. He married Laura B. Snyder at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, on 14 June 1924.2 Alfred died on 20 January 1983 at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, at age 86.3 He was buried on 24 January 1983 at Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey.3

He was employed as a security guard by Ingersoll Rand Co., Phillipsburg, for 35 years until retiring in 1964.
Born Aug. 12, 1896, in Port Colden, N.J., he was a son of the late Casper and Lillian Hoppock Sutton. He lived in Phillipsburg the last 57 years, having moved from Port Murray, N.J.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the Alert Hook and Ladder Social Club, Phillipsburg.
His wife, the former Laura Snyder, died in 1958.
Surviving are a son, Paul L., at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Huff and Mrs. Alma Hoffman, both of Washington, N.J., and Mrs. Mary Bennett, Forked Rived, N.J.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg. on 21 January 1983.3

She married Alfred Prall Sutton at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey, on 14 June 1924.1 She died on 27 June 1958 at Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey.2 She was buried on 30 June 1958 at Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Warren County, New Jersey.3
