Catherine Burd
HELOTES, Texas -- Catherine A. "Kay" Burd, formerly of High Bridge, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at home. She was 67.
Born in Newton to Ernest and Madeline Pool, she resided in High Bridge until 1998, when she moved to Texas.
She graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1957 and then attended the Adult County Practical Nursing School at Hunterdon Central High School.
She was a licensed practical nurse, working as supervisor for 27 years at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Union Township.
Mrs. Burd was a member of the High Bridge United Methodist Church.
She volunteered for the Volunteers in Probation program in Flemington and the High Bridge Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Her brother, George Pool, and her sister, Patricia Pool, died previously.
Survivors include husband John Walter Burd; three sons, John Jr. of Pittsburgh, Scott of High Bridge, and Michael of Wilson Borough, Pa.; a brother, Richard Pool of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Helen Strain of Douglasville, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Visiting hours were last night from 7 to 9 and funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury.
