Obituary
Irma F. Sutton, age 99, of Fairton, N.J., died on Sept. 19, 2010, at South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center in Vineland. She had been in declining health for less than a year.
Irma was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 11, 1911, to Charles M. Fenimore and Anna Mary Scully Fenimore. She lived in Philadelphia until the age of 7, when she was brought to live with her aunt, whom she stayed with until her marriage in 1931. She was the wife of the late James B. Sutton. Irma had been a resident of Fairton of the last 74 years, prior to that she lived in Bridgeton.
Irma graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1928. She was a member of the Delta Chapter Sigma Theta Chi Sorority, and of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church. She was a pianist for most of her life and had played the piano until two weeks prior to her death. Irma also enjoyed baking, and sewing. She also loved music and dancing.
Irma had previously been employed with Protection Service Insurance Co., Cumberland Traction Co., Cumberland Hotel, Fashion Shop, Gruber's Auto Service, and Harry Dare Plumbing.
Irma was predeceased by her husband, James B. Sutton; an infant son James B. Sutton Jr.; one brother, William P. Fenimore; and one sister, Joan Alfred Rittenhouse. She is survived by her son, James Fenimore Sutton, who resided with his mother and cared for her until her death. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Kimberly Chiola, (Joseph), of Hammonton; and two great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Chiola and Madsion Chiola, of Hammonton.
Friends and Relatives are invited to attend the graveside services, which will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., at the Old Stone Church in Fairfield Township.
