Peter Nipe, father, obtained guardianship of son Henry's daughters Sarah Elizabeth and Catharine following Henry's death in the Civil War. He received pension payments for the daughters of $8 per month starting October 31, 1864; $12 per month starting July 25, 1866; and $10 per month from September 1, 1871 to May 1, 1875 (payments for each daughter ended when they became 16 years old).
