Obituary
Casper Jones Sutton, 83, once an employee on the old Morris Canal, died yesterday at this home in Port Murray. He had been in failing health since December.
Mr. Sutton was born in Waterloo, N.J., a son of the late Robert and Mary Jones Sutton. He had resided in Port Murray for the last 46 years. In recent years he had been a postal employee in Port Murray.
He was a member and recording secretary of the Jr. O.U.A.M. of Port Murray, and the Port Murray Methodist Church, and its Men's Club. Mr. Sutton and his wife, the former Lillie Hoppock, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December.
Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Willard Hoffman, of Oxford R.D.; Mrs. Charles Bennet, of Clifton, N.J.; and Mrs. Amanda Huff, of Washington; four sons, Harry and Clyde, both of Washington; Alfred, of Phillipsburg; and Elmer, at home; a brother, Robert, of Beattystown; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Port Murray Methodist Church. The Rev. Frank Ostertag, pastor of Port Murray Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Port Murray cemetery.
