Notes
General:
Domestic Attachment.
Notice is hereby given that a Writ of Attachment issued out of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Burlington, in the State of New Jersey, at the suit of William C. Wright, assignee, &c. against the rights and credits, monies and effects, goods and chattels, lands and tenements, of John Jackson Sutton in a plea of debt for six hundred dollars lawful money, hath been duly returned to the said Court in the Term of August instant by the Sheriff of the said county of Burlington. Dated 19th August 1807. (Trenton Federalist, Vol IX, Issue 447, page 4, Monday, September 21, 1807 - GenealogyBank.com)
John died intestate and son, Robert Jackson Sutton was named administrator on 11 Jan 1826 and final probate was 1829. (Ref: Ancestry.com. New Jersey, Wills and Probate Records, 1785-1924; Miscellaneous Old Records, File s3, 1825-1831).
Rohease Brown Cook, in his book, notes that John Jackson Sutton moved from Burlington to Ulysses, NY. His wife, Susannah, did not go to NY with him, as evidence by letters written (1806 TO 1833) by his children, John and Ann Emley, to his son, their brother, Robert Sutton living in Mansfield Twp., Burlington Co. They end "give my love to Mother" until about 1828 when "Mother" is omitted from people mentioned at the end of the letter. It is possible that Susannah could have moved with John Jackson Sutton to NY but returned to NJ following his death.
