Obituary
John R. Sutton, 60, retired parts foreman of Burd Brothers Motor, Co., Washington, died yesterday at his home, 11 Youmans Ave., Washington, after a long illness.
He was employed at the motor company 40 years.
Born in Washington, he was a son of the late John and Mina Slater Sutton.
A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington, Mr. Sutton was active in church and civic affairs. In 1962 he was the recipient of Washington's combined service award. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a past grand knight of St. Joseph's Council 5170, Knights of Columbus; a past president of St. Joseph's Church Holy Name Society; secretary-treasurer of Washington, Elks Lodge 1563, and a past district deputy of the Elks organization. He was also a charter member of the Washington Lions Club and a member of Blue Ridge Post 164, American Legion of Hackettstown.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Woronowicz, three brothers, Elmer, Ontario, N.Y.; Franklin, High Bridge and Nelson, Oxford, and two sister, Mrs. Frances Lombardi and Miss Margaret Sutton, both Belvidere.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the DeVoe Funeral Home, Washington, followed by a Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. The Elks Lodge will conduct services at 7 p.m. tomorrow and the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home.
Buried in Pequest Union Cemetery.
