Death Notes:

Susan Sutton Wilson was born at East Creek, Cape May Co., in 1807 and died Aug. 27th, 1890. In 1830 she was married by Rev. Thomas Burroughs to John Wilson. They began housekeeping at Mauricetown and in a few years moved to East Creek where they remained until the death of the husband. Her warmest affections were centered upon her children and by them and their decendants she was revered. Free hearted hospitality to all, especially to the itenerant, characterized her home and her multiplied kindnesses and deeds of charity will never be forgotten. She was happily converted early in life and spent 64 years of usefulness in the church. Her life was undoubtedly prolonged by the attention her children gave her. In the days of her activity she made her influence felt in the work of the church. Her life was not complete until by the will of God it was made symmetrical by suffering. Work carved the outlines, suffering put on the finishing touches of the chisel. Two months of patient endurance and her spirit was released. She sleeps in peace besides her husband in West Creek Cemetery, awaiting the resurrection of the dead. She truly rests from her labors.
