Obituary
William A. Sutton, 65, of 323 East Berwick street, a disabled veteran of World War I, died today at 7 a.m. in Coatesville Veterans Hospital. He had been a patient there for the last 17 years.
Mr. Sutton served 27 months in France during and after World War I. He saw action at Chateau-Thierry and Soissons, and was seriously wounded in the latter engagement. Most of his service was with a machine gun company.
Last May 31, he received a belated Purple Heart during memorial services at the veterans hospital. His was one of 28 medals presented to hospital patients.
Born in Belvidere, he was a son of the late Howard and Mary Weidner Sutton. Before his illness he was employed as a truck driver for Messinger Supply Company.
Mr. Sutton was a member of Easton Eagles Lodge and Brown and Lynch Post 9, American Legion. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Snyder; two brothers, Edward and Harry, both of Easton, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Kupcha, of Phillipsburg.
The body will be brought to the Strunk funeral home for services.
