Death Notes:

Woodruff Sutton, a well-known shipbroker of the city, died at his country home at Babylon, Long Island, early yesterday morning. His death was entirely unexpected, for he had been attending to business as usual for some time and was at his office, No. 52 South st. on Saturday. Mr. Sutton was stricken with paralysis on Sunday afternoon and died at 2 o'clock yesterday morning.
Mr. Sutton was born in this city in 1841. His father, Effingham Sutton, established Sutton & Co.'s Dispatch Line for San Francisco in 1849, and the son joined the father in the management of the business early in his youth and had ever since then been engaged in active business life. since the death of Effingham Sutton, about five years ago, his three sons, Woodruff, James R., and Theodore D., had carried on the business he established.
Mr. Sutton was also, president of the Cromwell Steamship Line to New Orleans and a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Maritime Exchange and the First Reformed Protestant Episcopal Church. He was a 7th Regiment Veteran and belonged to Lafayette Post, the New York Athletic Club, the American Geographical Society and was a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Sutton's wife and six sons survive him.
the funeral will be held at the country home of the dead man at Babylon, Long Island, tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. A special car attached to the train leaving the Thirty fourth st. ferry at 8:30 a.m. will carry friends and relatives from this city to the funeral.
