PHILLIPSBURG -- Alvah E. ''Sonny'' Sutton died June 20, 1999, at Warren Hospital. He was 59.
Born in Easton, he was a son of Raymond and Pauline Mertz Sutton.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a military policeman.
He was employed as a water tender by Fiber Mark in Warren Glen for 27 years, before retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the former Riegel Paper Co., now Fiber Mark.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg.
A sister, Jacqueline Creveling, died earlier.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Petchonka Sutton; four sons, Joseph Sutton of Harmony Township, Brian Sutton of Phillipsburg, and Troy and John Sutton, both at home; a daughter, Dawn Earls at home; two brothers, Raymond Sutton of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Arthur Sutton of Easton; two sisters, Ella Louise Slack and Eva Smith, both of Phillipsburg, and nine grandchildren.
Services were held June 24 at the Finegan Funeral Home in Phillipsburg. Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Phillipsburg.
